Job description

At IG&H, we help our clients become leaders in their markets by combining consulting skills with deep expertise in data, technology and organisational change. We are looking for a Data Engineer to help design and build a scalable, future proof data backbone for our data and analytics projects. There is strong exposure to financial services, where regulation, security and reliability are non negotiable, alongside projects in retail and health.

This is a role with a clear growth path: we want someone who can grow into a senior engineer over time, taking on more ownership and responsibility as they develop. You will be based in Lisbon and work closely with colleagues and clients in the Netherlands, which means real international exposure, without leaving the country and with almost no time zone difference, on projects of high technical maturity where you can learn from experienced engineers.

Job requirements

We are looking for someone who:

  • Helps design, build and maintain reusable data models and architectures.

  • Develops complex data pipelines (ETL/ELT) using Spark and PySpark, on Databricks and Azure.

  • Helps build and improve data lakes and data warehouses, with attention to performance, security and scalability.

  • Operationalises analytics and data science solutions into production ready applications.

  • Collaborates closely with the team, sharing knowledge and learning from more experienced engineers.

  • Works directly with clients in a consulting environment, supporting them at a technical level.

What you bring:

  • Around 2 to 3 years as a Data Engineer or in a comparable role, ideally with some exposure to an advisory or consultancy setting.

  • Fluent spoken and written English (you will work with clients and colleagues in the Netherlands daily).

  • Good working knowledge of SQL, Python and data processing frameworks such as PySpark or Pandas.

  • Hands-on experience with Databricks (Delta Lake, and ideally Unity Catalog or Delta Live Tables) and familiarity with Azure, including DevOps and CI/CD practices. Snowflake or comparable is also welcome.

  • Some experience contributing to scalable data architectures, and a willingness to explain and discuss your technical choices with the team and clients.

  • The curiosity and ambition to keep growing technically, towards a senior engineer role over time.

What success looks like in your first six months:

  • You are fully onboarded into our Azure and Databricks platform and contributing to a live client project.

  • You are taking ownership of your own tasks within a workstream and delivering them with growing autonomy.

  • You are comfortable with our engineering standards and ways of working, and have become a reliable, growing member of the team.

What we offer you:

  • A clear growth path: a role designed to help you grow into a senior engineer, with real support and room to develop your skills.

  • The chance to help shape a Data team in rapid growth, where your work and your decisions have direct, visible impact.

  • A permanent contract from day one, with salary and benefits in line with your experience.

  • A hybrid model: Lisbon based, with at least one day a week in the office and flexibility for the rest.

  • 22 holiday days plus 4 extra days off (bridge days, Carnival, Christmas and your birthday).

  • International exposure working with our teams and clients in the Netherlands.

  • A Great Place to Work, with enthusiastic colleagues focused on delivering the highest quality.

  • Gross annual salary range between € 31’208- € 39’010 gross (depending on the experience);

  • Meal Allowance: €10.20 per working day;

  • Work from home expenses: €30 gross, monthly fee

  • Mobile Phone budget

  • Health & Life Insurance
